anVendor vs Claude

Claude with web search confirmed 1 of 11 of anVendor's biggest company-service findings, with no adoption or spend. Compare them, or use anVendor inside Claude.

Claude with web search reads and summarizes public sources quickly. anVendor finds companies using a SaaS or business service through live scans, including use behind a login, and adds estimated adoption and annual spend ranges. The two answer different questions, and for prospecting the difference matters.

What Claude does well

Claude is a strong researcher for anything that has been published. It finds press releases, case studies, leadership changes and product announcements, and turns them into talking points for a first call. It can reason about fit, draft outreach and research any vendor, including ones anVendor does not cover.

Where it goes quiet

Most SaaS use is never published. On September 29, 2026 we asked Claude Opus 5.5 on Max, with web search, to research 11 of the biggest company-service findings in anVendor's vendor directory.

  • It confirmed current use for 1 of 11: Keller Williams and Canva, from a June 2025 press release.
  • It found no adoption share and no defensible spend estimate for any pair.
  • Several searches returned the vendor as a supplier or integration partner rather than a customer: AWS hosting Atlassian, SurveyMonkey's Facebook integration, and 1Password's integration with OpenAI's Codex.
  • Other evidence was undated, from a single team, or more than ten years old.

anVendor's findings for the same pairs include IBM using Atlassian at an estimated 76% adoption, checked September 5, 2026, and Meta using SurveyMonkey at 49%, checked September 4, 2026. Claude found no current evidence for either.

We also asked Claude to list the five largest customers of Atlassian, SurveyMonkey, Canva and 1Password. It named 20 companies from case studies and press releases but could not rank them by size. None came with an adoption share, and one had a spend figure covering a single business unit. anVendor detected 15 of those 20 and added estimated adoption to 14, for example Mercedes-Benz on Atlassian at 99% and FedEx on Canva at 9%. For the other five, a new live check found no evidence, which is a reason to verify before outreach, not proof of non-use. anVendor's unique strength

Ask about any company, of any size, and the service you care about. anVendor checks whether that company uses it, whether or not the company has ever said so publicly. You get a detected result with estimated adoption and annual spend, or a dated check that found no evidence. The catalog covers a large set of popular SaaS and business services: collaboration, design, CRM, HR, security, e-learning, developer tools and AI.

Which to use when

  • Use Claude to research a company's news, strategy and people, to prepare a call, and to cover vendors anVendor does not track.
  • Use anVendor to find which companies use a competing service, see how widely, estimate what that use is worth, and keep the list dated and refreshable.

The better way: anVendor inside Claude

You don't need to choose. Connect the anVendor MCP server to claude.ai, Claude Code or another MCP client by signing in and approving the connection. Claude can then discover a competitor's customers, request live checks and read estimated adoption and spend, while doing what it already does well: researching context and drafting outreach.

Competitor use can signal a need in the category and help your team qualify a lead. It does not establish budget, dissatisfaction or intent to switch. Check the account against your ideal customer profile and identify a reason to reconsider before outreach. Spend ranges are estimates, not invoices or guaranteed deal sizes.

The tools can complement each other in competitor research and analysis. A company missing from one result may appear in the other. Treat each result as evidence to investigate: a missing match does not prove non-use, and anVendor is not a complete customer database.
